Training Provision

The first training provision of Green Shoots will be an instant immersion in business creation for the entrant entrepreneurs, or managers, who are offering themselves for the possibility of entrepreneurial start-up activity.

Trainee Profile

The training will be for people who are extremely unlikely to have ever run a business before, and are unlikely even to have worked in business before. They will have little or no experience of management, and are likely to be poorly educated. But they will be motivated by their wish to work, and will also be motivated by their wish to be adventurous and try something new. They are also quite likely to be enterprising, and enthusiastic.

Trainer Profile

The trainer is trained in techniques and course design by the School of Entrepreneurship in Valnalón. Valnalón is leading Europe in entrepreneurial training in environments of social deprivation. It has conceived and implemented innovations in entrepreneurial training and education at all levels. Through the participation of the Oviedo Chamber of Commerce in the ReRegions project, Green Shoots has been offered the opportunity of exploring the work achieved in Valnalón.

Content Range

The basic tool-kit required for the start-up of a company is offered, along with an understanding of the process. The course takes the trainee from the start to a point at which the process of preparing a Business Plan, and developing financial projections is understood, including understanding the market place, the customer, the competition, the pricing context, and the likely cost base, as well as team development, staffing, overhead base and ancillary costs. The course covers a lot of ground, in very little time.

Timing

The first courses will be available for delivery at the beginning of October, 2006. They will last no more than 6 weeks, from start to finish.
